Every new smartphone has its own trick. Whether it's
wireless charging, fingerprint scanning, or even eye tracking, there's always
one great feature you "can't live without." But let's be honest: you
can really live without many of these features.
On the other hand, some of the futuristic technologies
available in next generation smartphones are really useful. But which features
do you need in your toolbox, and which are just the icing on the cake? This
definitive list lists 10 useful features your smartphone should have.
1. Long-lasting battery
Your smartphone may have a shrink ray or turn lead into
gold, but it will still be useless without juice. There are ways to improve
your device's battery life, but in the end, a bigger battery will last you
longer.
Droid Maxx is the undisputed king of batteries. This will
bring you closer to 48 hours of use. The Galaxy Note 3 has a decent battery
life of 12 to 16 hours of use, but it still lags far behind the Maxx. The
iPhone 5S is about 10 hours behind, while the Samsung Galaxy S4 is 9 hours
behind.
2. Deformation rate processing
Speed remains the top prize in the smartphone arms race.
You notice when apps lag or when swiping takes forever.
iPhone 5s is the fastest smartphone on the market. Its A7
processor is even light-years ahead of lightning-fast phones like the Samsung
Galaxy S4 or the lightning-fast Motorola Moto X. But don't despair if your
phone is a little slow, there are ways to speed it up.
3. Clear screen
Smartphones serve both for viewing multimedia and for
communication. You watch movies, play games and view photos on the screen of
your mobile phone and want the clearest picture possible.
In this case, that award goes to the Samsung Galaxy S4. It
has the best resolution and the most pixels per inch. The LG G2 and Nokia Lumia
1020 are a little behind, but Samsung's Super AMOLED technology puts them
ahead.
While the screen of the iPhone 5s and 5c can't quite match
the size or pixel density of its competitors, it's still a solid
high-resolution display that many people prefer for its color accuracy.
4. Great camera
You don't have to be a professional photographer to see the
difference between the cameras on modern phones and those on your old flip
phone. A good camera is important for more than just good photos. You can use
the camera for other amazing things like visual searches.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 features an elite ZEISS lens, image
stabilization and a whopping 41 megapixels. This is clearly the best camera
phone because it's more of a camera than a phone!
iPhone 5s and HTC One are also very worthy shooters. Its image sensors have larger pixels for better color gamut and excellent low-light images.
5.NFC
Near Field Communications allows your smartphone to transmit
data to other phones and tablets nearby. It is very useful for sharing images
and music. You can even use it to pay in shops and restaurants. Many great
Android and Windows phones offer NFC, but Apple doesn't.
6. Multiple windows
You would never agree to just see a window on your computer,
why do you need it on your phone? Samsung Galaxy phones, as well as the LG G2,
Optimus, and Enact are great for browsing multiple apps at the same time. Other
Android phones and iPhones are limited to displaying only one app at a time.
7. Plenty of storage space
Most smartphones have between 16 and 32 gigabytes of
storage. Extra space is a nice luxury, but these days you'll be storing most of
your media in the cloud.
8. Infrared remote control
How cool would it be to control your TV with your
smartphone? You will never look for the remote again. Phones like the HTC One
and the Samsung Galaxy S4 have IR transmitters and apps to help you control
your TV. Of course, there are third-party IR plugins for iPhone and other
Android phones.
9. Fingerprint sensor
Apple's most talked about feature in the new 5s has
definitely been the fingerprint sensor. It's not really more secure than
traditional lock screen passwords, but it saves you time. The HTC One Max
Android phone also has it, but at the moment only a few other phones have it.
10. Wireless charging
This is a useful feature for those of you who don't want to
connect your phone. Just leave it on and it charges. And don't worry; CA
